Voters give okay to school budgets

Residents headed to the polls Tues., May 14 to vote on their school budgets, elect school trustees and consider other propositions on the ballots.

Following are the local results:

•Babylon’s school budget passed 548 to 217. Tricia Pane and Ann Donaldson were elected to the board.

•Deer Park voters approved their budget 816 to 242. Incumbents Donna Marie Elliott, Robert Marino were reelected to the board.

•In Farmingdale, voters approved their budget 1,413 to 658, and incumbent board trusteed Mario Espinosa, Anthony Giordano and Kathy Lively were reelected, 1119, 1299 and 1383 votes respectively.

•Fire Island residents approved their budget 46-0 and elected Lisa Kaufman, Kathleen Skelly-Kurka and Amy Wood to the board with 42, 41 and 45 votes respectively.

•Lindenhurst voters approved their budget 1,200 to 762, as well as proposition#2, which called for the establishment of a capital reserve fund. They also elected Mary Ellen Cunningham, Kevin Garbe and Donna Hochman to the board as well as newcomer Josephine Martino.

•North Babylon voters passed their budget 827 to 282 and elected Paul Miller and Matthew Lucchetti to the board.

•West Babylon voters approved their budget 739 to 467. Elected to the school board were Lucy Campasano, Jennifer Wandasiewicz and John Evola.

•Finally, in West Islip, voters said yes to their budget 1,578 to 564, reelected Steven Gellar to the board and Richard Antoniello.
