Copiague student charged with making threats against other students

Tuesday, May 8, 2018: 

Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a 17-year-old male student yesterday who, they said, made a school threat. Police gave this account:

A 17-year-old male student in his junior year at Copiague High School communicated messages through Instagram to a female classmate on May 6, at approximately 9 p.m.  The messages consisted of several threats against the students in the Copiague High School, class of 2019, as well as suicidal statements.  After a thorough investigation by the First Precinct Crime Section, officers arrested the 17-year-old male student on May 6 at approximately 7 p.m.

The 17-year-old male student, whose name was withheld by police,  was charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.  He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
