Alice Zaruka of Babylon dies

We are sad to report the passing of Alice Zaruka, a longtime Babylon Village resident who was an integral part of the community of Babylon Village. She was a longtime member of Babylon Historical and Preservation Society and served as the Babylon Village Historian for a good part of the last decade.Alice ZarukaAlice Zaruka

Mrs. Zaruka died Feb. 13, 2018. She will repose at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy., West Islip on Tues., Feb. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wed., Feb. 21, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Her daughter Irene Cargonja and her husband Ivan of Massapequa, and her son John and his wife Linda of California survive her as do her grandchildren, John, Bill and his wife Jennifer, Stacy and Jeanette, her great grandchildren, Natalie, Colby, Ashley and Molly, and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Her husband William J. Zaruka predeceased her.

A religious service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Babylon on Thursday, Feb. 22. Interment will follow in North Babylon Cemetery.

Donations in Mrs. Zaruka’s memory can be made to the Babylon Village Historical Society, 117 West Main St., Babylon or to the Christ Episcopal Church, 12 Prospect St., Babylon.
