North Babylon woman charged under Leandra's law following DWI accident

Desiree Dubois following her arrest.Desiree Dubois following her arrest.Friday, Dec. 1, 2017: Suffolk County Police arrested a North Babylon woman charging her under Leandra’s law following a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Lombard Street, North Babylon last night. Police gave this account 

Desiree Dubois was driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Lombard Street at approximately 10:50 p.m. when she struck a parked vehicle, overturning the Maxima. Dubois’s 2-year-old son was in the vehicle, and he was not injured. He did not go to a hospital and was released to a family member. Dubois was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries.

 Dubois, 27, of North Babylon was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
