Police arrest homeless man, charging him in two bank robberies

Police announce they have cleared 21 of 23 bank robberies that took place this year

Sat., Sept. 16: Suffolk County identified and arrested a homeless man yesterday as the individual who attempted to rob a bank in West Islip, and then robbed Capital One Bank in Babylon within a half hour of each other on Weds., Sept. 13.

Arrested and charged was Corey Suozzo, 25. He was charged with attempted robbery and robbery in connection with those incidents.

Police Commissioner Tim Sini announced that Suffolk Police have cleared 21 of the 23  bank robberies in Suffolk in 2017 through the use of fingerprint analysis by the county’s Identification Section and investigative work by the Major Case Unit.

Suozzo was held overnight at the First Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip yesterday.
