Bank robber strikes out once and tries again

After a teller at a West Islip Bank refused a man’s written demand for cash, the subject tried his luck at Capital One Bank in West Babylon this morning, with better results.

Police said the subject again presented the teller with a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the man fled.

The first incident occurred at 9:10 a.m. at the Astoria Bank, 526 Union Blvd. Fifteen minutes later the man walked into the Capital One Bank, 8 Little East Neck Road, and demanded money. Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating the two incidents.

The suspect was described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5 feet-7-inches to 5-feet 8-inches tall, with a medium build and dark-colored facial hair. He was wearing a black knit hat, a black T-shirt and black pants.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
