Man charged in fatal MVA in Copiague

Richard TurnerRichard TurnerSuffolk County Police arrested a man for driving with multiple license suspensions after a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague, Thurs., Feb. 16. Police gave this account:

 Richard Turner was driving a 2003 Lexus RX 300 eastbound on Sunrise Highway near Bayview Avenue when he struck a pedestrian at approximately 6:30 p.m. Copiague Rescue transported to the victim, identified as Fausto Rodriguez, 38 of Copiague, to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. 

Investigation revealed Turner had 30 license suspensions. First Squad detectives charged Turner with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, a felony.

Turner, 36, of Massapequa, was held overnight at First District Court in Central Islip on February 17. The investigation is continuing.
