Bellone looks for public support for county's sex offender protection act
S.C. Exec. Steve Bellone spoke with numerous parents and residents this week to encourage support for the Suffolk County Community Protection Act. The law, which enacted four years ago, is a model for laws ensuring sex offender registration and compliance.
The law, which has been successful, has been under attack by sex offenders who are unhappy with the consistent level of monitoring we have been doing in Suffolk County.
Residents are asked to sign the online petition to codify the Suffolk County Community Protection Act and to close the remaining loopholes in the laws across New York State.
