Traffic on Sunrise Highway backed up—both ways— this morning

Suffolk Police report that two separate incidents closed off a portion of Sunrise Highway last night and had traffic backed up for hours this morning.

The first incident occurred last night when a truck took down wires between Great Neck Road and Albany Avenue. Police closed off the roadway there until later this morning. But rush-hour traffic was stop and go as police redirected westbound vehicles off Sunrise Highway at Great Neck Road.

In the second incident, which occurred early this morning, a driver flipped over his vehicle in the eastbound lane of Sunrise Highway, just east of Great Neck Road. The driver sustained only minor injuries, said Police.
