officer will submit a request
and certification to HUD
for the release of CDBG-DR
funds appropriated under
Public Law 113-2, as amended

and as authorized by
related laws and policies for
the purpose of implementing the New York CDBGDR Action Plan.
Project Description:
GOSR proposes to provide
$2,200,000.00 in CDBG-DR
funding to implement the
Fire Island Backup Power
Generation for Critical Facilities Project (Proposed
Project). The absence of a
sufficient number of backup generators leaves the
Fire Island community illprepared to protect the public, property, and natural
environment during and
after disasters such as severe
storm events. The Proposed
Project is intended to ensure
that key facilities within Fire
Island are able to operate
and respond to future storm
and emergency events. The
Proposed Project would
remove and replace six existing generators at critical
community facilities on
Fire Island with six new
back-up power generators.
The Proposed Project also
includes the replacement of
automatic transfer switches
(ATS) and the replacement
of radio equipment at the
Ocean Beach water tower
facility as well as the installation of one air compressor
at the Kismet Fire Department.

The Proposed Project is
categorically excluded from
the National Environmental
Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA)
by HUD regulations at 24
C.F.R. Part 58. An Environmental Review Record
(ERR) that documents the
environmental determinations for this project is on
file and available for review
and copying in person Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00
