Police ask for public's help in identifying pair who stole bronze from cemetery

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate two people who stole bronze vases from a Farmingdale cemetery earlier this month.

Police said a man and woman stole 12 bronze vases from Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave., on Oct. 5 at 12:30 p.m. They fled in a silver four-door sedan.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

In other police news, Suffolk Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a teenager whose remains were discovered in Brentwood.



The body of Jose Pena-Hernandez, 18, of 48 Heyward St., Brentwood, was discovered Oct. 17, in a wooded area at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center, 998 Crooked Hill Road.

Police said Pena-Hernandez was reported missing on June 13.



An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
