Two men stabbed in West Babylon this morning

Police seeking help in apprehending assailants

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are continuing an investigating into an incident this morning in which one man was killed and another injured in a stabbing. The incident took place in West Babylon and police are asking the public’s help in solving the crime.

Police said two vehicles were traveling southwest on Straight Path when an altercation ensued. The drivers and passengers in both vehicles got out of the vehicles and two men were stabbed during a dispute at approximately 9:20 a.m.

The two, who were in the car together, were identified as Nyquan Banister, 22, of North Babylon, and a 21-year-old North Babylon man, whose identity was not released by police.

The two were transported to a local hospital by West Babylon Fore Department. Banister died of his injuries and the unidentified male was treated for what police described as non life-threatening injuries.  

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white SUV with out-of-state license plates. The investigation is continuing. Homicide Squad detectives are asking anyone with information on the stabbing to call 631-852-6394 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
