Library budget votes and trustee elections today

Polls now open at all libraries in Babylon Town

The Babylon, Copiague, Deer Park, Farmingdale, Lindenhurst, North Babylon, West Babylon and West Islip public libraries are holding their annual budget votes today.

•In Babylon, the library board is proposing a budget for the coming year of $1.89 million. Running unopposed for a five-year term is incumbent Frank Fronzo. The polls are open until 9 p.m. tonight at the library, 24 S Carll Ave., Babylon. For more information call, 631-669-1624.

•In Copiague, the library board is proposing a $3.9 million budget and Mary Haughey is running unopposed for the school board. A candidate who initially filed a petition  to run against her has withdrawn from the race.

The polls are open until 8 p.m. at the library, 50 Deauville Blvd., Copiague. For more information call  the library at 631-691-1111.

In Deer Park  the library is proposing a budget of $3,265,015. The budget is within the New York State Tax Cap guidelines. Running for two seats on the library board are William Celona and Dorothy Weissgerber. There is no opposition.

The polls are open from 10 am. to 8 p.m. at the library, 44 Lake Ave., Deer Park. For information call the library at 631-586-3000.

•In Farmingdale, the library is proposing a budget that calls for approximately $20,780 less in spending for the coming year than this year. The library’s proposed budget is for $3.901 million. The budget is within the New York State Tax Cap guidelines.

Running for another five-year term on the library board is incumbent Laura Ulric. She is running unopposed.

The polls are open until to 9 p.m., at the Farmingdale library, 116 Merritts Rd., Farmingdale.

In Lindenhurst voters are being asked to approve a $4.5 million. The budget is within the New York State Tax Cap guidelines. Running for election to the Library Board is Lori-Ann Novello. She is seeking the seat formerly held by Garry Biggs who is not seeking reelection. She is running unopposed.

The polls are open until 9 p.m. at the library, 1 Lee Ave., Lindenhurst. For further information, contact the library at 631-957-7755.

•In North Babylon, the library budget is within the New York State tax cap and calls for an increase in spending over this year of $3,480.  The budget is within the New York State Tax Cap guidelines.

Running for reelection to another five-year term is Trustee Ronald J. Wroblewski.

The vote is at the library, 815 Deer Park Avenue, North Babylon and the polls are open until  9 p.m. For more information, call the library at 631-669-4020.

In West Babylon the library is proposing a  $3.6 million, an increase of  $11,250 over the current budget. The budget is within the New York State Tax Cap guidelines.

Running unopposed for a five-year term is incumbent Richard Harty.

The polls are open at the library, 211 Route 109, West Babylon, until  9 p.m. For more information, call the library at 631-669-5445.

•In West Islip, the library board is proposing an operating budget of $3.7 million. The budget is within the New York State Tax Cap guidelines.

Running unopposed for another five-year term is incumbent Trustee Margaret Bell.

The budget vote and election will be held at the library, 3 Higbie La., West Islip. The polls are open until 9 p.m. at the library meeting room.  For more information, call the library at 631-661-7080.
