The Pilot Club of Babylon will be installing new officers for the 2010-2011 Year on Monday, June 14th, at Southward Ho Country Club. This past year’s president, the dynamic Patty Burke of West Islip, will be installing Alicia Catania of Babylon as the new President. President-Elect will be Joanne Allar, also of Babylon.

Incidentally, call Diane Zemba at 669-2463 to buy tickets for the special raffle held by Pilot for a fantastic tour of three Long Island Wineries (including wine tastings) aboard a private bus for you and eleven of your friends. Tickets are $25 each and the prize will be drawn at Southward Ho on Monday, June 14th. This is your last chance to win this fantastic prize!

Talk is there’s a special fundraiser for the Village Fountain to be held in July. The party will be in the form of a special cruise in and around Babylon, with a narration of what happened and where! The party will include dinner and entertainment, with a cash bar. More details to come, but tickets will be limited!

I want to send happy belated birthday greetings to Tim Boylan, owner of All Wright Contractors. Tim celebrated with friends on June 4th. Many happy returns, Tim!

Other birthdays from May were Debra Cook (May 4th) and Irene Morris (May 30th). I hope both of these great gals had a wonderful birthday. Conor Freeman celebrated his day on May 28th.

There are a couple of upcoming birthdays: Marie Ridulfo’s big day is tomorrow, June 11th. And Patricia Kinlan will be celebrating her birthday on June 30th. Both of these birthday girls are from West Babylon. There’s an extra special birthday happening tomorrow, but shhh, details will be in my next column.

June 11th seems to be a busy day here in Babylon. The Town of Babylon will be celebrating Trolley Day at the Old Town Hall on Main Street in Babylon to recognize the 100th Anniversary of the trolley here in Babylon. Honored guests will ride a special trolley to numerous sites within the village. People can also sign up for a trolley ride on Saturday, June 12th for a fee. Call 631- 893-2100.

This year’s Babylon Classic 10K Dirty Sock Run race will be held on Sunday August 22rd, 2010 8:00 a.m. Rain or Shine. The race has been very successful for the past 4 years, due to the hard work of Hapi and Chrissy Auer of Glen’s Dinette. Preregistration must be received by August 20, 2010 - $20.00.
