Active West Islip community member and loving family matriarch Rita J. Shannon died Feb. 26, 2010 after an illness. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Lindenhurst, she lived on Magoun Road in West Islip for 53 years. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and home, said her husband George.
