Audrey Daley, loving mother of eight

Former Amityville resident Audrey O. Daley died Feb. 1, 2010 in Manitou Springs, Colorado. She was 84 and had dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She was born July 29, 1925 in Brooklyn to Joseph and Elizabeth (Ulle) Ott. For many years, she was employed as an administrative assistant at Newmont Mining Co. in New York City. She lived in Amityville for about 45 years, most recently on Eden Court, before moving to Colorado in 2006 to live with her daughter Judy Ennis and her husband Bob.
Mrs. Daley was a member of the Amityville Senior Center and a parishioner of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, Amityville, where she worked at the thrift shop. She had enjoyed bowling with her husband of 58 years, John C. He predeceased her in May, 2005. According to her family, the day she passed away was also the same day she had met her husband on a blind date.
Mrs. Daley also leaves behind her children, Audrey Cronin of Mastic Beach, Patricia Mandella and her husband James of Islip, John of New Jersey, Diane of Lindenhurst, Kevin and his wife Ann Marie of Amityville, Paul and his wife Judy of East Islip, and Tim and his wife Rose of Georgia. Twenty four grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and her sister Beatrice Hotaling also survive her. She was also predeceased by her sister Helen Petronio, and her sonin law Kevin T. Cronin.
Mrs. Daley reposed at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on Feb. 6 and 7, 2010. Monsignor Daniel Hurley officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family on Feb. 8, 2010. Interment followed in the National Cemetery at Calverton.
