North Babylon High School senior Rebecca Pantaleo was flanked by family, friends and coaches on Feb. 4 as she signed a National Letter of Intent to play field hockey at Division II Adelphi University this fall.

Pantaleo has been the starting goalie for the North Babylon varsity field hockey team for the past three years. “She has been blessed with amazing agility, incredibly strong and accurate clears and stick stops; her clears have improved each and every year,” praised her high school Coach Caryn Rosenau. Pantaleo’s stats show a steady improvement with 108 saves her sophomore year for a save percentage of 79 percent, 152 saves her junior year for 80 percent, and 179 saves this past year for 80.5 percent, totaling 454 varsity career saves.

Pantaleo has received numerous awards for her success on the field. She received the New York State Scholar Athlete Award every year, and she was named Most Valuable Player her junior and senior years. During her sophomore year, Rebecca was named to the Suffolk County All-Tournament Team, and as a senior she has been named Suffolk County All-Division.
