West Babylon High School announced its fall 2009 scholar athletes. More than 30 students earned honors for their stellar performances both on the field and in the classroom.

Theboys’ cross country team’s Tim Lee was chosen for First Team All-League, and Cody Amengual for First Team All-League, Second Team All-County, and All- Academic. Kelsey Hammel on the girl’s cross country team was named All-League.

The girls’ field hockey team’s Megan Burke, Alexa Goebel, Sonam Kumar, and Melissa Prunzion made All-Division. Sarah Morash, Amy Robbins, and Joanna Tritto was All- Tournament. Shanna Green received the All-Division Honorable Mention. Courtney Baranek made All-County, All-Long Island, All-State, and the Exceptional Senior Award.

The boys’ football team’s Danny Apuzzo, Lionel Fontaine, and Jesse Powers were chosen for Second Team All-Division. Michael Richardson and Andrew Smith both made All- County.

Theboys’ soccer team’s Coach Greg Axelson is the JV Coach of the Year. Ian Borthwick is All-League and a Captain Fyfe Courage Award Finalist. Matt Cario made All-League and All- Academic, while Justin Fitzpatrick received All-Conference and All- County. Stephen Georgilis and Danny Teryson both were All-Conference, and Gaetano Innamorato is All- League.

The girls’ soccer team’s Bethan Bianco and Melissa Frederick made All-Conference and Hollie DiMuro was All-County. Girls’ volleyball player Jocelyn Dawson was both All- League and All-Academic.

Thegirls’ tennis team’s Cori Conner, Kelly Redmond and Emily Toner were named to All-League. Kerrin Toner, Brianna Waszak and Megan McShane all made All-Division.
