Babylon Village Arts Council Winter Art Show Feb. 27 The Babylon Village Arts Council in partnership with Astoria Federal Savings Bank will be sponsoring its first Winter Art Show and Sale on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Masonic Lodge located at 250 West Main. St., Babylon Village from noon to 4 p.m. Works from the late sculptor Jacob Lipkin, sculptor, will be on exhibition. Between 1940-1979 Lipkin participated in over seventy group exhibitions at venues such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and exhibited his work in twenty one-man shows. His work can be viewed at the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, the Smithsonian in Washington, the Tel Aviv Museum to name a few, as well as in private collections. Anthony Servedio is a self-taught artist whose need for self-expression first articulated itself in oil paintings during he mid-nineties. His largescale oil paintings reflect his love of the sea and his vibrant life on the seashore. The latest manifestation of Tony’s innate talent and irrefutable need for artistic expression comes in the form of driftwood. Tony has called the East End his full-time home for four years now, and his love of the East End’s vast rugged shoreline has blossomed into a veritable obsession with driftwood. He takes great care of his amazing driftwood finds and uses his skill and talent to fashion them into modern sculpture. While listening to the music of Greg Albino, you can view the works of the surrealist oils of Paola B. Bianchi, pastel landscapes of Don Bartsch, watercolors by Deb DiDomencio, photography by Steve Martino, paintings by Ned Butterfield and oils by Shareed Marrone. Classic Rock Art will display works by Ronnie Wood, Allison Lefcort, Sebastian Kruger and Joe Petruccio. Works of art will be for sale. Mark this date for an exciting afternoon of art in downtown Babylon Village. Admission is free. For information, contact Rose Norman at 669-1810 or visit our website at www. babylonvillagearts.org. |
