Police charge man with robbing Lindenhurst bank

Randall, J. Carbone
Suffolk County Police arrested a man on Fri., Dec. 19, charging him with robbing a bank in Lindenhurst.

Police said that Randall, J. Carbone entered the Chase Bank branch at 945 N. Wellwood Ave. at 2:08 p.m. that day and approached a teller with a note demanding cash, stating he would shoot up the bank if the teller did not comply. Carbone put his hand in his pocket, pretending he had a gun and threatened to shoot a customer. The teller complied with Carbone's demand and gave him cash from the drawer. Carbone then fled the bank and was observed traveling east on Herzel Boulevard.

Suffolk County First Precinct police officers George Madjarian, Jamie Schmidt and Eric Denis responded to the bank alarm. A witness observed a male leaving his neighbor's property and getting into a cab. Officers Madjarian and Schmidt located and stopped the cab on 7th Street in Lindenhurst. A male fitting the description of the witness was interviewed and identified as Carbone, 38, of 1012 N. Delaware Ave., Lindenhurst. Officer Denis observed that Carbone's clothes matched clothing shown on the bank's surveillance video and he was placed under arrest at 3:10 p.m.

Major Case Investigations Unit detectives have charged Carbone with one count of Robbery 2nd Degree. He will be held overnight at the 7th Precinct in Shirley and will be arraigned in First District Court tomorrow.
