West Islip Beach Street Middle School receives grant for new technology
     Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse of Bay Shore recently delivered new technology supplies to West Islip’s Beach Street Middle School. Theitems received were donated as part of a technology grant submitted by technology teacher James Stidd, and awarded by Lowe’s Home Improvement’s Bay Shore store manager Brian Reynolds.

Fresh start to new school year in Deer Park
     Deer Park Superintendent of Schools Eva Demyen welcomed the district’s newest teachers with a comprehensive orientation program. In order to fully integrate the faculty into the classrooms and community, teachers spent three days getting to know one another and their schools.

Lindenhurst Marching Band performs National Anthem
     The Lindenhurst High School Marching Band performed the National Anthem at the LI Ducks game at Citibank Park recently against the Somerset Patriots, under the direction of Band Director Kevin Pike. Councilman Flotteron offers Happy 90th Birthday wishes
     Islip Town Councilman Steve Flotteron recently attended a 90th Birthday celebration for two residents at the Sayville Fire Department. Marion Giamatteo, of Oakdale, recently celebrated her 69th wedding anniversary with her husband, John. Janice Byrne, of Sayville, remains active in the community, in addition to volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital. Both women are great-grandmothers.
