Historical Society of Islip Hamlet annual Holiday House Tour to be held December 6

The Historical Society of Islip Hamlet announced that its 16th annual Holiday House Tour will be held Sun., Dec. 6, noon to 4 p.m. The Holiday House Tour has become a tradition in Islip. Once again there will be fivehomes decorated for the holidays as well as tour guides dressed in period clothing. The St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will be featured on this year’s tour and serve as the reception area as well. The reception will offerthe aroma of holiday pine and freshly baked cookies. Live entertainment will be provided by Chapter 4 (barbershop quartet). There will be an auction with giftsdonated by merchants and members as well. Tickets can be purchased in advance, in person by visiting Nook & Cranny Collectibles & Gifts, 3 Grant Ave., Islip or Little Shop of Shamrocks, 173 Islip Ave., Islip. Tickets are also available by writing to the Society at P.O. Box 601, Islip, NY 11751. To purchase tickets on the day of the event, stop by one of the shops mentioned between noon and 1:30 p.m. Tickets are a $20 donation per adult, age 16 and over in advance or $25 per adult on the day of the event. All tickets are non-refundable and the tour will proceed despite poor weather conditions. All proceeds from this year’s annual Holiday House Tour will go toward the organization’s scholarship fund and enable the group to help with school programs and field trips that are of a historic nature for the students to enjoy.
