AFTER GUARD PARTY AT BABYLON YACHT
CLUB IS HUGE SUCCESS.
Joan St. John and Jill Corbett hosted the very popular “after guard” party at the Babylon Yacht Club last Sunday. The party has been held for a number of years for long-time and present members of the club, their guests and former members. They came from near and far to visit with friends some have known since childhood and had not seen for many years. The food, as always, was terrific – the guys opening fresh clams, worked all afternoon long. People just couldn’t get enough of the fresh, juicy goodies. And, of course, lots of treats brought by the members made for a fine dining experience. And, as in the past, the Banjoaires delighted the crowd with their singing and playing all of the old time tunes with guests joining in and having a ball. Everyone applauded when Joan St. John and Sue Howell were presented with beautiful floral bouquets in recognition for the many years they had been members of the club and for all of the volunteer work they had accomplished over the years. This included the many parties they had hosted and all of the decorating assistance they had given. We all agreed: “Thanks for a job very well done to two fabulous gals, Joan and Sue. This party always attracts lots of out-of-towners, and it was fun to see so many friends of yesteryear. Some of those who made the scene were: Libby Burns, of Texas, Carrie and Greg Seidman of Maryland and Robin Auer of California who were visiting their parents, Joan and Bud St. John, Susie Goldhirsh of Manhattan, Betsey Davies of Cape Code, her brother Julian who came by boat, Robbie Walbridge and his daughter of Africa who were visiting with Rob’s cousin, Nan Hanaway, Liz Simonson of Florida, Everett Seidenbergs of Florida and Molly Orr of Colorado. Score another perfect 10 for Joan, Jill and their committee who worked so hard to make this one such a hit.
