Lifelong Amityville resident Robert "Bobby" Lee Sims died following a long illness on May 19, 2009 at Christa House in West Babylon. He was 44.

He was born Oct. 3, 1964 in Copiague to Allen Robinson and Joanne Sims. After graduating from Amityville High School, he began his career in retail management, most recently as an assistant manager in Toys R' Us in Massapequa.

A travel lover, he was described by his family as a private, quiet individual who had a great sense of humor.

"Even his ill health did not prevent him from bringing a smile to the faces of people around him," said his sister, Linda Sims.

In addition to his sister, Mr. Sims leaves behind his grandmother Matilda and his other siblings, Alex "Ducky," Mark Epps and Allen Robinson. His aunts and uncles, Lona Mae Leftenant, Bernadette, Geraldine, Laverne, Roosevelt "Buster," and Leroy Sims also survive him as does his Godmother Roberta Turner, his god-sister Janet Turner and his god-brothers, Alvee Turner and Gerard Turner. his heaven-sent angel, Joanne Brown, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Tina and Terri "Niecy;" and his grandfather Charles.

The Reverend Maurice Chandler conducted the Funeral Service at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on May 23, 2009. Private cremation followed.
