Francis Malone, volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital

Frances Malone, a resident of Bay Shore, was an avid volunteer in her community. She died May 19, 2009 at 81.

"She was a loving mother and grandmother, beloved by friends and family," said her daughter Maureen Malone.

Mrs. Malone volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital and St. Patrick's Church in West Islip. She worked for CitiBank as a collector and retired 20 years ago. When she wasn't working or volunteering, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and keeping up with the lives of friends and family over the telephone, said her daughter.

In addition to her daughter Maureen and her husband Richard Dalton, Mrs. Malone is survived by her sons John and his wife Lisa, Michael and his wife Kerry. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kim, Ryan and Katelyn Malone, and her brother Robert Maguire, and her twin sister Patricia Eik.

Her husband John W., predeceased her as did her daughter and son-in-law Catherine and George Grillo.

Mrs. Malone reposed at Frederick J. Chapey and Sons West Islip Funeral Home on Thursday May 21, 2009. A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was said Fri., at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, followed by a cremation.

The family has requested that donations in Mrs. Malone's name be made to Affinity Nursing Home, 305 Locust Ave., Oakdale, NY 11769.
