The 11th annual Police Brotherhood Ceremonies were held at the Suffolk County Police Department's First Precinct. The event honors those who have given their lives in the line of duty. The event included a police Colorguard and comments by S.C. Police Commissioner Richard Dormer and P.O. John Whidden, president of the First Precinct Brotherhood. Also at the event was Katelyn Faughnan, 17, a student at East Islip High School who won the Thomas Rathgaber Memorial Scholarship for an essay she wrote. She will be attending Iona College in the Fall.
