Recently, local residents attended the installation of Bishop Robert Guglielmone as Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston. Bishop Guglielmone was a priest at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Amityville, where he made many friends. He later served at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre. School facility user fees and a soccer coaching appointment dominated the discussion at the June 22, meeting of the Babylon School Board. Students in Mrs. Losardo and Miss Joseph's First Grade Class at JFK Elementary School in West Babylon recently celebrated the completion of Good Character and Citizenship lessons practiced throughout the 2008-09 school year. They shared what they learned with their parents at a special Good Character Performance, which included original songs and scripts written by Mrs. Losardo focusing on Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Citizenship. Also assisting were Ms. Germano, Mrs. Watt and Frank Gentilesca. Students participating included Nicolas Likos, Gavin Pallas, Frank Rubiano, Thomas Beggins, Marcus Beiro, Daniella Copeland, Kyra Duke, Dominic Longo, Carissa Brock, Sydney Jomisko, Julianna Mazur, Cory Barrerra, Ellie Murray, Ryan O'Sullivan, Mattison Schaefer, Kyra Anderson, Giavanna Colqscione, Dillan Sotomayor, and Michael Lindner. N.Y.S. Sen. Owen Johnson welcomes home returning Iraq War veteran, James Christman of Babylon at the Federation of Organizations' 32nd annual Senior Expo and Luncheon held on June 5th. Six Ducks were selected to the Atlantic League All- Star game, which was held Tuesday, June 23 at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, and a couple had major impacts in the contest. Frances Malone, a resident of Bay Shore, was an avid volunteer in her community. She died May 19, 2009 at 81. "She was a loving mother and grandmother, beloved by friends and family," said her daughter Maureen Malone. Mrs. Malone volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital and St. Patrick's Church in West Islip. She worked for CitiBank as a collector and retired 20 years ago. More...
