Town of Islip Supervisor accepts grant for West Islip Beautification Soceity

Islip Town Supv. Phil Nolan, right, recently accepted a $22,500 grant from S.C. Leg. Tom Barraga, left, for the West Islip Beautification Society. The grant is part of the Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Program and will be used in 2009 to install decorative lighting on Higbie Lane at the intersection of Udall Rd.

The West Islip Beautification Society is a non-profit organization that works to promote pride in the community and attract residents, businesses, and visitors by keeping West Islip beautiful. Barbara Jones, president of the society, and Rocco Pepe, member of the grant committee, were on hand to accept the grant.
