Henry Gleckler, Bay Shore area electrician engineer

Longtime area electrician and loving family patriarch, Henry R. Gleckler, Jr., died May 24, 2009 in Bay Shore. He was 81 years old.

Born in Mineola and raised in Hicksville, he lived in Bay Shore for most of his life. From 1945 to 1949, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Gleckler was a 50-year member of IBEW Electricians Local 25 and worked for contractors all over Long Island.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Loretta (nee Anderson); his children, Henry III, Edward and his wife Carol, and Barbara Rommeney and her husband Rich. His grandchildren, Henry IV, Corinne, Theresa and three step-grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren survive him as do his siblings: Margaret Brose, Mary Etta Martin and Calvin, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gleckler reposed at the Claude R. Boyd Funeral Home in West Islip on May 27, 2009. A Funeral was held May 29, 2009 at the funeral home followed by interment with Military Honors at Calverton National Cemetery.
