Gratitude for response to a call for help
      Dear Editor: I recently wrote the following to the Chief of the Babylon Village Fire Department. I felt compelled to inform him of the experience I had with an emergency on Friday evening May 15, 2009. I am a nurse for many years and was experiencing chest pain and pressure at my home and it was progressively getting worse. My blood pressure was 177/117.

WIFD offers pool safety tips for summer
      With the start of the summer season, the West Islip Fire Department wish to remind pool owners of some safety requirements. All swimming pools must have pool alarms. Every swimming pool that is installed or modified after Dec. 14, 2006 must be equipped with an approved pool alarm. In addition, pool barriers (fences) are required.
