The students and staff at the Lindenhurst High School Alternative Learning Center (ALC) have been very busy the past few months.

This award is given to students who have shown exceptional attendance, academic achievement, and involvement in school activities. Students of the Month are: September - Ricky Newton, October - Edward Ramirez, November - Julie Stallone and

December - Danny Skowran.

The students and staff brought in over 1,500 cans, or 1,160 pounds of food for the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit Island Harvest.

Alternative Learning Center students volunteered to work with the kindergarten students at Daniel Street Elementary School to create Thanksgiving-related arts and crafts. "Everyone loved making colorful turkeys out of paper bags," exclaimed Science teacher Diane Casale.

Students, staff and administration at the Alternative Learning Center held their annual holiday award ceremony and charity auction before the winter break. There were more than 100 people to enjoy a special slide presentation, student academic awards, student "fun" awards, teacher awards presented by students, and a holiday auction. "My favorite part of the ALC is our holiday party. Everyone gets together for activities and shows how we truly enjoy each other," said senior Andrea Gervasio.
