      As part of the celebration of Babylon's history, the Town of Babylon Historic Preservation Commission celebrated History Day in the Town of Babylon, recognizing students who had written and been recognized for essays they had written on the Town's history.

Pilot Club Spring Fling '09
      The Pilot Club of Babylon held its eighth annual Spring Fling fund-raising dinner-dance in April at the Vene­tian Yacht Club in Babylon Village. The gala event, which is the Pilot Club's ma­jor annual fund-raiser, included a hot and cold buffet, open bar, Chinese auction, silent auction, 50-50, "lottery tree" and other raffles.

      A moving service to honor those veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of their country was held at Long Island National Cemetery at Farmingdale on Memorial Day.

      The Copiague Chamber of Commerce and local officials welcomed the opening of the latest in a chain of four eateries, Pollo Campero. The restaurant is in a new building at Sunrise Highway and Straight Path.
