Islip Arts Museum presents Site Specifics '09 exhibition on view from June 6 to July 26
The Islip Art Museum will present Site Specifics '09, an exhibition of installations and mixed media work created by artists for the Carriage House.
Curated by Karen Shaw, senior curator of the Islip Art Museum, the exhibition will be on view from June 6 to July 26. Among the artists features in Site Specifics '09 are Hillevi Barr, Rob Carter, Heather Cox, Masao Gozu, J. Hill, Joseph Peragine, Robert Waltzer and Gordon Von Stevenson.
A reception for artists will be held Sun., July 26, 1 to 4 p.m. On the same day, there will be a reception for the Open Call exhibit at the Islip Art Museum, entitled My Long Island. To celebrate the occasion, the Islip Art Museum, Heart for Art, Inc., and the Islip Arts Council are presenting a concert by New York's Most Dangerous Big Band on the Carriage House lawn beginning at 2 p.m. Therenowned jazz band, SwingSet Quartet will perform in the museum galleries from 1 to 4 p.m. All events are free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
In addition to the reception, the following events will be held: Tea at Three will be held June 25. There is a $7 reservation fee and you must call 631-224-5402 to check availability.
The Carriage House is administered by the Islip Art Museum and is located at 50 Irish Lane, East Islip. Thehours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
