Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their feedback regarding this letter to the community. It appears that many residents were unaware of the numerous activities that occur on a daily basis in Village Hall. It is very important for everyone to understand their local government and have an opportunity to give feedback and offer suggestions.

Village Hall has been extremely busy these past few weeks as we finalize plans for all the summer employment and recreational activities. The golf course is open and soon the pool will open and summer recreation activities will begin. Not only do we provide numerous recreational activities for all ages, but we provide summer jobs for many Village children.

As I had mentioned in a previous letter, the good weather brings people out of their homes, renovations and yard work are done, and once quiet neighborhoods are now bustling with activity. Unfortunately, this also brings some interesting issues. One such issue which will often end up in my office is a neighbor dispute. Please be considerate of your neighbors with noise, animals, parking, renovations, etc. If you are planning any renovation or building on your property, please contact the building department before you do the work to find out if you need a building permit and/or variance. All Village ordinances and building codes can be found on the Village website. If you are unsure of a situation, please call my office and I would be happy to help you. Additionally, I have received numerous complaints regarding lawn maintenance crews operating at inappropriate times and parking their trucks illegally. Please be sure that your lawn contractor has the proper permits and follows all the codes. Also, they need to park their trucks at curbside on the correct side of the street.

I have received positive feedback regarding the dog waste bag disposals that we have installed throughout the Village. Please remember to use them, dispose of them properly, and keep your dogs leashed at all times. We will be providing additional receptacles in the parks for disposal.

As a follow-up to previously discussed issues - I met with Verizon, and have been informed that Fios should be available in the Village at the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010. The Green Committee is actively meeting to consider alternative energy for Village facilities. Renovations are ongoing at the Conklin House. I am continuing to interview for the position of Grant Writer. The Newcomer's Committee is continuing to work on their project, which should be completed soon. I am still putting together a committee to involve our children in Babylon life. Please contact my office if you are interested in this project. And, we will also be discussing the recommendations of a study done by Suffolk County regarding the excess seaweed in Fredericks Canal.

In addition to the routine activities of Village Hall and meetings with committees and residents, I have represented Babylon Village at a variety of functions: Pilot Club, LIYC Commissioning Day Ceremony, Suffolk County Police Department 1st Precinct Remembrance Ceremony, Suffolk County Village Association, and Suffolk County Hall of Fame where a former Babylon High School student, Gerard Brown, was recently installed.

I am always available to listen to your comments, concerns, and suggestions. I can be reached at Village Hall - 669-1212, home - 669- 0058, or e-mail - rsvob@optonline. net. Your input is vital to a successful community.
