A woman lost control of her car and struck a gasoline pump at a gasoline station at Albany Avenue and Great Neck Road on Sun., April 26. The accident caused the vehicle to quickly ingulf in flames and explode. Miraculously no one was hurt. That incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. The store manager had shut off the gasoline valve before leaving the store, which helped the situation, said witnesses, but the station was cited for not having the proper extinguishing pump over the tanks.
