Babylon Memorial Grade School P.A.R.P. creates love of reading

2009-04-30 / Schools/Sports

Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) at the Babylon Memorial Grade School began on Feb. 2nd with a bang! This year's theme Imagine This, Create That was kicked off featuring the grade school's very own readers' Theatre Ensemble. Teachers and staff members performed hilarious skits from the nonfiction book Mistakes That Worked: 40 Familiar Inventions and How TheyCame to Be by Charlotte Jones. Our students were engaged and will never forget how their teachers performed! What a perfect way to get them motivated and stir imaginations. Each week during P.A.R.P. children have had the opportunity to read nonfiction, realistic fiction, mystery, fantasy, adventure, science fiction, biography, animals fiction, sports fiction, etc. to add to their reading repertoires. Students have been inspired to create and invent interesting masterpieces that relate to the books they have read. You can see these wonderful works of art on display in the lobby of the grade school.
