West Islip Summit Coalition to host Community Forum April 28
The West Islip Summit Coalition will hold its first Community Forum on Tuesday, April 28, 7:30 p.m. at Beach Street Middle School Auditorium. Residents, business owners, community groups and others are invited to hear plans for the inaugural West Islip Summit, which is scheduled for later this fall. Over the past several months, officials from the West Islip School district, trustees from the West Islip Board of Education, members of numerous local community groups and business owners have held several meetings to formulate plans for the first West Islip Summit. "After receiving a great deal of input from a broad cross-section of West Islip organizations, we want to outline the goals of the West Islip Summit for the community and open a dialogue with residents from all corners of the hamlet," said Steve Gellar, co-chairperson of the West Islip Summit Coalition. While plans for the West Islip Summit, currently scheduled for October 28, will be finalized in the coming months, Annmarie LaRosa, co-chairperson of the Summit Coalition, noted that the primary goal of the Summit is to bring all local residents, community groups and local business owners together to celebrate West Islip. "As with any community, West Islip has many strengths but also has some challenges that need to be tackled as well," she said. "TheSummit will allow us to bring together a broad cross-section of residents and groups from across West Islip and allow us to have a strong, cohesive voice when reaching out to our elected officials for assistance in continuing to improve our hometown."
