What price a sound economy?
Dear Editor:
To the Obama administration: Thisis not our America! No State shall ... pass any ... ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, (article I, section 10 of the constitution).
That means that the government cannot interfere with the legal contracts of a company like GM. Does the government have the right to fire an employee who does not work for them? Or perhaps now, everyone works for them. Thisis not our America.
President Obama said, "Let me be clear. The United States government has no interest in running GM. We have no intention of running GM," according to foxnews.com. Then why is he? Are we to feel at ease with the direction of this country, which is moving toward socialism, because his intentions are said to be good? First bailouts, now restructuring; what government overstepping will be next?
Now, because we want a quick fix to our problems, we will risk all of our freedoms and allow our country to be highjacked for a few extra bucks. The question becomes America, what is most important, money, or freedom?
Obama's plans may very well work, but what if they do not? What if this is merely an introduction to government regulation (socialism) of the economy? Are you willing to risk your economic freedom for it?
It seems as if Obama is frustrated living in America so he is changing it to be as he wants it to be. From his obsession with eliminating the lives of the unborn children in America through abortion, to his socialist principles, his administration echoes the philosophies of China. How much further will we allow him to change us?
Let us stand strong and hold firm to our American values. May my life never take liberty, may my liberty never take life, and may my happiness be found pursuing the American dream.
