Lindenhurst Village street sweeping has begun
Village of Lindenhurst Mayor Thomas Brennan would like to remind all residents that the Village's street sweeping program has been resumed for the 2009 season. Mayor Brennan is urging all homeowners to cooperate with this program by moving motor vehicles from the curbside and into driveways on the days that sweepers are scheduled to sweep in their areas. Also be sure that curbs are clear of refuse containers, heavy trash items and miscellaneous debris that could interfere with sweepers. Thiswill allow the sweepers to do a better job of keeping our Village free of loose dirt, dust and sand and miscellaneous paper debris. "By working with our sweeping program, we can keep our neighborhoods and streets as clean as possible. Unless we help by keeping our roadways free of cars and roadside items, the street sweepers cannot do an adequate job," stated Mayor Brennan.
Trustee Kevin McCaffrey also wants to remind residents to refer to the 2009 Sanitation Services Calendar that was distributed earlier this year. Thecalendar shows the exact dates each street will be swept in each of the eight designated "sweeping zones" of the Village. These areas are outlined on the back page of the calendar.
All residential streets are swept once per month, March through October. Sweeping may be canceled or rescheduled without notice due to inclement weather.
