Jane McEvilla, formerly of Amityville
Amityville bornand raised Jane Coburn McEvilla died peacefully Feb. 26, 2009 surrounded by her family in her Vermont home. She was 66 years old.
She was born Dec. 26, 1942 in Amityville and lived on Ketcham Avenue. She was a graduate of St. Martin of Tours, Park Avenue and Rosary High School and was a member of the
Amityville High School
summer band, as well as an adopted member of the Amityville High School Sorority, Delta Phi Sigma.
Mrs. McEvilla spent her career with IBM and retired in 1993 to Vergennes, Vermont. During her time in Vermont, she was a founding member of the local Red Hats Society, a member of the American Legion Post #14 and of the Catholic Church of the Vergennes. In her spare time she loved to paint glass.
Mrs. McEvilla leaves behind her husband James and her children: Dianne Zirk and her fiance Dave Quattrocci of Ferrisburgh, Vermont, Tricia LaFountain of Vergennes, Vermont and Tara Burgess and her husband Lukas of Bristol, Vermont. Her stepchildren, Gary McEvilla of Florida; Janthoni Chase and her husband Craig of Vergennes, Vermont; Jodi Barrows and her husband Steve of Moriah, New York; Jayne Airoldi and her husband Dan of Essex, Vermont, and Greg McEvilla and his wife Amy of Port Henry, New York also survive her as do her grandchildren that called her "Grammie Jane:" Heather, Sara, Matthew, Daniel, Josh, Luke, Elisabeth, Betsey, Lynsey, Amy, Christopher, John, James, Elizabeth, Amanda, Nathan, Justin, Emily, Miles and Nora. Six great grandchildren, and her siblings, Roe Coburn of Frankfurt, Germany; Tom Coburn and his wife Jackie of Shelburne, Vermont and Carol Coburn of Santa Barbara, California also survive her.
