Former Babylon resident Joan Kimmerle Wagner died Jan. 14, 2009 in Morehead City, North Carolina. She was 78.

She was raised in Babylon and had graduated Babylon High School in 1947.

Mrs. Wagner was a Lutheran Sunday school teacher in Rocky Point, and cared for handicapped children at Maryhaven in Port Jefferson. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. In 1991 she moved to North Carolina.

She leaves behind her daughter: Dale Turnage and her husband Jesse of Gloucester, North Carolina; and her granddaughter: Shevaun Langan and her fiance Justin Jones of Gloucester, North Carolina.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Munden Funeral Home and Crematory in Morehead City, North Carolina.
