The West Islip Cheerleading team placed fifth in the Long Island Cheerleading Coaches Association Finals (LICCA) held at Suffolk Community College in February.

"This event was comprised of the 'best of the best' teams from the Long Island and merely qualifying for the competition was an honor. Placing 5th in the competition was an extremely exciting moment, as they realized that all of their hard work, commitment, and determination had paid off. For the seniors, it was bittersweet, as this is what they have been working for throughout their high school career. Also, a special congratulations to Julie Wandzilak for being a part of the All-Star Team and Kristin DeLeo and Michelle Shelorke for their participation in ACT (Ambassador Cheer Team), which is an organization designed to get teams involved with community service," said Cheerleading Coach Ariana Breitfeller.
