Town of Islip offers residents FREE nutrient-rich compost

2009-03-26 / Events & Bulletin

Beginning Fri., April 3 Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan will be offering residents a chance to build the garden of their dreams with free nutrient-rich compost. The compost was created at the Town's compost facility after being collected from yard waste put out for pick-up at the curbs of Islip Town residents each fall and spring. Residents will have the opportunity to obtain the compost at the following pick-up locations: Casamento Park, Timberline Park and Byron Lake Park.

"Bring a bag or a wheelbarrow and collect as much compost as you'd like to build the garden you've always wanted," said Supervisor Nolan. Supervisor Nolan anticipates that compost will be available at the above locations until May 2. The supply will be replenished on Fridays until that date.
