The Black History Month celebration in the Town of Babylon this year was one that marked major achievements in racial equality. This year's event celebrated several milestones including the Presidency of America's first African-American, Barack Obama, the 100th anniversary of the NAACP and the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

"Thisyear was a culmination of countless years of civil rights' struggles by people who sacrificed their time, their sweat and sometimes their lives for racial equality," said Babylon Town Councilman Antonio Martinez who attended the event. Entitled, Living the Dream, the event was held Feb. 28 at Phelps Lane annex. Keynote speaker was Rev. Dr. Reginald Tuggle of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roosevelt. Master of Ceremonies was Ken Grimball of News 12, Long Island.
