North Babylon student selected for USDAN and Eastman School of Music

North Babylon High School Band Directors Jay Orig and Frank Rizzo, Choir Director Irene Seubert, and Director of Music and Fine Arts Dr. Kim Lowenborg- Coyne announced that senior Kourtney Krause has been selected as a 2008 Usdan Center for Creative and Performing Arts (USDAN) and Eastman School of Music scholar by the USDAN Center for the Performing Arts. This grant was presented to Krause in recognition of her musicianship, spirit and outstanding participation in numerous music programs.

Krause is not new to awards and recognition. She was also recently selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education (MENC) All-Eastern Mixed Choir, which will perform at a festival in Providence, Rhode Island in March. Krause has been selected for the All-County Choir for eight consecutive years and All-State Choir for the past two years.

Krause's other accomplishments at North Babylon include Drum Major in the Marching Band and participation in the Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Musical Pit Orchestra, Choir, Madrigal Singers, Girls Vocal Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Krause plans to continue her pursuit of music in college next year as a Music Education major. Shown in the photo is Kourtney Krause with one of her her directors.
