Elizabeth Rye Elizabeth Rye Elizabeth Rye, a retired New York City Detective, is running for a seat on the Babylon Village Board. She is opposed by incumbent Trustees Alice Vanderveldt and Kevin Muldowney and by Darrell Conway, who is making his first bid for Village Board.

Rye, who worked for the Village in the Code Enforcement office for about six months and now works with the Town of Babylon's Office of Bay Constable, said she decided to run because she wants to become involved

n the Village, which she moved to eight years ago. She a ls o works as a consulting investigator.

"Thisis a beautiful community and I am excited about being a part of it," she said. "It has a lot to offer and I wanted to put my hat in the ring to be involved and give something back."

Rye said she supports Conway's position that the Village Board should eliminate the gasoline benefit it provides its members, but that beyond that she said she finds the way the Village is being run is satisfactory.

"I want to be part of the administration and see that the Village does more "green" things. She said she'd promote environmental friendly and disposable bags for leaves and other projects that "support the environment and green living."

"If I am elected I will become a trustee who listens to what the people want," she said.
