Lindenhurst Bulldogs season rocks
The Lindenhurst Bulldogs football team had a successful 2008 season, reaching the Suffolk County Division I Championship Game at Stony Brook University's LaValle Stadium. Even though Lindenhurst lost to Connetquot by a score of 17-3, the team has much to be proud of.
To reach the championship game, the Bulldogs beat top-seeded William Floyd in the Suffolk Division I semifinals, with a score of 24-21, ending the Colonials' run at 42 consecutive victories. William Floyd had been the Long Island champions for the past three seasons.
Lindenhurst's playoff run began with a solid 27-0 win over Northport. They set the tone with the first possession and a nine-play drive, ending with a 22-yard scoring run to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.
The Bulldogs had a very successful season, with a record of 6-2 during the regular season. The team was determined to send Coach Rich Biancaniello into retirement a winner. "This has been the greatest ride," said Coach Biancaniello. "It is the best parting gift I could have ever asked for."
