Well it's almost here now that Southward Ho is open again after its six-week winter vacation. They celebrated with a Valentine's Day dinner party last Saturday night, and every seat in the large dining room was taken. People were so glad to get out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the people they hadn't seen during the cold winter months, and last but not least the delicious food features on the special Valentine's Day menu. We had a very nice table hosted by Katharine Fallon, Mary Rinklin, Libby Orr, Kay Baker and Millard Warrren. Lots of friends were on the scene: "Trish" and Jerry Snover, Sarah Lee and Gordie Baldwin with their daughter Kathy and her husband, Jeanne and John Ramsey with friends, Judy and Warren Light, Bettie Hanse, Gail Askoff, Meredith Lupion and her daughter Miranda and Lance Reinheimer. Hats off to the chef and all who made the perfect evening perfect.

HE LOOKS GREAT. Yes, Dr. Milton ("Mitty") Beyers is back from a vacation with his daughter Beth and her husband Ricki Frankel of North Carolina where the weather was a lot warmer than it was up here.

BE CAREFUL when you're shoveling snow. Our latest victim from the snow is Steve Ferraro who fractured his left wrist in two places when he was shoveling last week. Not to worry too much - he's doing very well and is up and these days, and at his spot at the "Sewer Society" meeting last week.

A GREAT WEEKEND. Yes, 20 cousins in the Fallon family had a wonderful time skiing in Stowe, Vermont on Martin Luther King weekend. It was real cold outside, but the house they rented had heated floors, so everyone had a fine time walking without shoes. P.S. They liked it so much that they hope to go back again next year.

SAVE THE BEACH CLUB COMMUNITY MEETING COMING UP. Fred Shore residents received a letter last week urging them to attend a meeting at Village Hall on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the future of the Beach Club. The letter states, in part, that the future of the club is in danger and "that it will take everyone to pull together and show the person next door to the club that behind the beach club stands not just one person, but every homeowner in Fred Shores." The letter asks recipients to call or R.S.V.P. Lisa Ludwig at 422-4291 or fredshoresbeachclub@gmail.com. This matter has been a matter of contention for a number of years with homeowners locked in a disagreement over the future of the beach club with one of the residents.

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. Yes, "Jo Jo" Vanderveldt, the son of Alice and "Jo Jo' has just returned from an unforgettable trip to Italy. "Jo Jo" is a sophomore and a member of the chorus at St. Anthony's High School and made the annual trip as part of Our Lady of the Angels Jubilee Pilgrimage. Among the beautiful spots where the group visited were: Sicily, Mt. Etna (the volcano mountain), Palermo, Rome, Assisi and the biggest thrill of all, they sang for the Pope at St. Peter's Basilica.

IT WAS A MINI REUNION FOR BABYLONIANS, former and current, on Februa 16th at the home of Midge and John Moore in Boynton Beach, Florida. Every year their community

holds a fundraiser

for the local hospital by having a golf tourney of the senior Pro players, coupled with some Am players. This year the Pros were many including Lee Trevino, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Bruce Fleischer, Dave Stockton, Jim Thorpe, Bob Murphy, Hubert Green and others. The Moores' Babylon buddies guests were Frank Leahy, Tish Walsh, Grace & Ed Ricke tts, Dick Daytz and Gayle Labenow Flaherty. The weather was glorious and everyone had a great time.
