Lillian Brueckner, lifelong Babylon Village resident
Lifetime Babylon Village resident and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Lillian M. Brueckner, died Dec. 16, 2008 after battling cancer. The avid gardener was 63.
Born in Bay Shore, she grew up in a home on Mortimer Avenue in Babylon Village and spent summers at her grandmother Lillian's home on Oak Island. After graduating Babylon schools in 1963, she worked locally at the Norton Siegel Insurance Co. during the 1970s, and retired as benefits administrator in the human resources department of Greenman-Pedersen Engineering in Babylon in 2003.
"She was a really great person, always happy and so hardworking" said Vanessa Cifuentes, who had worked with her for several years at Greenman-Pedersen Engineering. "She had trained me, in fact, for my position. She was loved by everyone who worked with her and we were sorry to hear that she passed."
Mrs. Brueckner leaves behind her loving husband of 43 years, Gregory; her son John and his wife Roxanne of Babylon Village and her grandsons, Gregory, Russell and John. Her siblings: Diane Agosta, Connie O'Shea and Edward Harrison also survive her.
She reposed at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home on Dec. 19, 2008. A Funeral Service was held Dec. 20, 2008 at the funeral home followed by private cremation.
