After year-long delay, Town signs off on 8-year CSEA contract

An 8-year contract, one of the longest every negotiated between the Town of Babylon and the CSEA employees, has finally been adopted. The contract, which was overwhelmingly approved by the 125-member unit a year ago, was not signed off by the Town after several "minor"issues were raised that required additional negotiations, said Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone. The contract represents one of the longest ever approved.

"All of the more significant issues such as compensation and health insurance had been agreed upon but the union raised some questions about individual members and whether they were to be considered union members or exempt members," said Bellone. "Those took us a little time to work out."
